September is Disability Employment Month in British Columbia. This year we’d like to highlight one of many Jobs West success stories.
Michelle has been working part-time at Small Victory Bakery in Brentwood since 2018! Some of her duties include clearing tables, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces. She also helps out in the kitchen and is involved in making their delicious almond croissants. Michelle is hard-working and passionate about her job. As well as working at Small Victory Bakery, Michelle also attends school part-time at Vancouver Community College and is studying to become a Health Care Assistant.
Michelle’s hard work and dedication haven’t gone unnoticed by her manager and coworkers. Michelle’s manager Madonna said that she is “punctual” and “great at following directions”. Michelle’s coworker Anna says Michelle is an asset to their team, has built great relationships with her coworkers, and is always offering to help.
When asked what her favorite part of her job is, Michelle said “My co-workers are my favorite thing about the job. We’re like a family here.”
Congratulations on your 5th anniversary at Small Victory Bakery Michelle!
