Developmental Disabilities Association Launches New Donation Bins On Earth Day

April 21st, 2015, Vancouver BC – Local non-profit charity Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) unveils the launch of new clothing bins with an Earth Day celebration at Kensington Community Centre.

Derived from their motto “Be Local, Think Local, Give Local”, the new white bins are designed and made locally in BC. The new design by True Blue Wire Products will feature larger chutes, safety mechanisms, and a 100% nonprofit badge to distinguish ourselves from for-profit bins.

“The design will undoubtedly help ease in the transition of gently used items from the home to DDA”, explains Rich Gammie, Operations Coordinator of True Blue Wire Products

“DDA is proud to have worked with a local business to create a secure, user friendly, eye-catching clothing donation bin!”, says Deanna Barlow, Director of Business Centre of DDA.

Since 1980, DDA has been collecting clothing, housewares, book and bottle donations in efforts to continue funding services and programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in the community while being environmentally friendly. Each year, DDA prevents over seven million pounds of goods from going into landfills.
