In October and November, our Leisure Challenge Program continued its longstanding community partnership with the UBC Dental Hygiene program. Three hard-working students – Ashley Tang, Madison Boen-Shekula, and Abbie Backhaus – started on October 15th and joined us every Wednesday for five weeks. Over this time, they participated in rapport-building activities with the teens and ended their placement in November by presenting two lessons on dental hygiene topics.
The small team also created a pamphlet resource for our teens and their families. The teens had a lot of fun learning about dental hygiene topics and participating in their interactive lessons. The students did a great job making their lessons educational, engaging, and fun!
