All the folks from E47th and Curzon House recently enjoyed an exciting field trip to a local honey bee farm.
It was a wonderful experience to learn how honey is collected from bees that gather nectar from a single type of flower, creating honey with the natural color, aroma, flavour, and nutrients that nature intended.
Upon arriving, the instructor warmly welcomed the group and gave everyone a guided tour of the property. We were provided with white protective suits, allowing us to safely experience holding bees in our hands. It was an incredible experience, and everyone was thrilled – and safe.
The instructor explained the daily routines involved in beekeeping and demonstrated how honey is extracted from hives. Residents also learned about the different types of honey produced from various flowers and the unique characteristics of each one.
To conclude the visit, everyone came home with a bottle of honey to enjoy.
All of the residents returned with a wealth of new knowledge and were excited to share their experiences with others. It was a fun, educational, and memorable day for everyone!
