B.C. Weekly COVID-19 Stats from February 23rd to March 2nd:

  • The number of new cases in the past week: + 405. The current total number of cases in B.C. is 396,472

  • In the last week there were 11 new deaths in the province for a current total of 5,218.

  • There are currently 237 British Columbians in hospital; 14 of those are in critical care.

  • Over 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C.


COVID-19 booster shots recommended for high-risk Canadians starting this spring

CBC – Canada’s national vaccination advisory body is calling for high-risk individuals to get another COVID-19 booster shot, starting this spring.

The new recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) outline that an additional vaccine dose may be offered at a standard interval — six or more months from the last COVID-19 vaccine dose or SARS-CoV-2 infection, whichever is longer — for people at a higher risk of severe illness.

Canadian-founded company develops first AI-designed COVID-19 drug, starts clinical trials

CTV – For the first time ever, a drug for COVID-19 designed with artificial intelligence is headed to clinical trials.

Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong-based AI pharmaceutical company, announced last Thursday its ISM3312 therapeutic would be starting clinical trials in China after its preclinical studies found that the drug “significantly reduces” viral load and inflammation in the lungs.

WHO says all theories for COVID origin ‘remain on table’ as lab leak theory gains traction

Sky News – The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said that all possible hypotheses on the origins of COVID-19 “remain on the table” following the claim by the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that they considered a Chinese lab leak as the “most likely” source.
