Developmental Disabilities Association would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the provincial government for recognizing the need to instill inclusion in the minds of the people of B.C. At DDA we do our best to remind everyone that inclusion matters. Inclusion means being seen, being heard, and being understood. It means being missed when you are not there. It means empowering, respecting, and appreciating everyone no matter what.
Our organization supports and advocates for people with developmental disabilities and has been doing so since 1952. It is also our job to be part of the solution that creates a community where everyone belongs. We encourage those we support to help them overcome any obstacles and reach their full potential.
We applaud the recognition the government is giving to those with developmental or physical disabilities and that October is the month dedicated to that understanding. And while this proclamation is done with the interest and well-being of all British Columbians in mind, let’s remember that inclusion does not end on November 1st.
