Inclusive Summer Camps!

Summer is finally here, and we’re so excited! This is a great time for your family to try out some new activities and meet new people now that COVID restrictions have eased. Go out and enjoy the sunshine!

We’ve rounded up some inclusive summer camp ideas that you and your family should definitely check out!

Zajac Ranch

Zajac Ranch is a fully inclusive summer camp where everything is accessible for children with medical conditions and disabilities. In the summer months, Zajac Ranch for Children provides camps for children and young adults with chronic, life-threatening and/or debilitating conditions. These experiences give participants the opportunity to explore the outdoors while developing greater social and environmental awareness, increased self-confidence and positive growth in attitudes towards physical activity.

Easter Seals

Easter Seals has been offering a camp experience to children and adults across BC and Yukon with diverse abilities since 1952. They offer two locations: Winfield B.C. and Shawnigan Lake. From day camps to week-long overnight camps, there are options available for all interests, and for all children and adults ages, 6-49 years old. Trained counsellors bring out the fun and silly in every activity and event, creating experiences that instill confidence, and memories that last a lifetime.

The good news is, Easter Seals Shawnigan Lake location is planning to turn the camp into a year-round facility. For more details go here.

If you still want to stay COVID friendly, Easter Seals offers online camps through Easter Seals Camp at Home.

AutismBC ABA Camps

The Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)
day camp is a successful model for dealing with these challenges during the school breaks. The camp features one-to-one ABA therapy support alongside outdoor activities and community outings. This camp allows children on the spectrum to continue their therapy during the school breaks, which helps ease children back into their school routines

Columbia Outdoor School Inclusion Program

This program has been designed to offer children with physical and or developmental disabilities an opportunity to participate in Summer Camp programs. With the support of an inclusion counselor and enthusiastic camp staff, your child can enjoy a wide variety of fun and positive experiences this summer.

Phoenix Therapeutic Gymnastics

While the Vancouver-based gymnastics club doesn’t offer a full camp aspect, they do offer classes aimed at kids and youth with physical and developmental disabilities.

Gateway Theatre Sensory-Friendly Acting Camps (Richmond, BC)

They have a few spots left!! This online camp will provide a safe space for neurodivergent youth and children to work collaboratively, find a sense of belonging in an ensemble, and develop interpersonal skills.
