September 11th, 2017, Vancouver BC – Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA) is pleased to be presenting the Heart to Heart Orchestra in Vancouver at the Norman Rothstein Theatre on September 15th, 2017.
From Seoul, Korea, the Heart to Heart Orchestra was originally founded to provide music education opportunities to young people with developmental disabilities and they have been successfully performing around the world to improve social understanding about people with disabilities ever since.
“We are very excited to welcome the Heart to Heart Orchestra to Vancouver because its musicians are a great example of people who are overcoming obstacles, encouraging abilities and reaching their full potential with each performance. These are all goals that we have for the people who we serve at the Developmental Disabilities Association so we hope to be inspired and entertained on September 15,” said Alanna Hendren, executive director of DDA.
Supported by Korea’s Heart to Heart Foundation, the Orchestra is part of their mission to look after marginalized children and their families who are living in poverty, with a disability or disease, “within the spirit of God’s love and compassion”, always working toward their vision of an inclusive society for all.
“It is deemed very meaningful that DDA and Heart to Heart Foundation in Korea having common goal of social rehabilitation and integration for the people with developmental disabilities are meeting through performance. We hope to build better future for the disabled by exchanging advanced social welfare and culture through this event. ” says Young Ju Kim, Chairman of Heart to Heart Foundation
Since 2006, the Heart to Heart Orchestra has performed at more than 600 public concerts at home and abroad; this will be the first Canadian tour in Vancouver, BC. DDA looks forward to an inspiring performance that promotes the abilities social inclusion with individuals with disabilities.
