The Developmental Disabilities Association is honoured to have been named Association of the Year at the Richmond Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards. This recognition means a tremendous amount to our team, the people and families we support, and the broader disability community.
Being part of the Richmond community means being surrounded by organizations and people who believe deeply in inclusion and accessibility. We are proud to contribute to that vision, and even more proud to stand alongside others who share it. This year’s category included exceptional finalists—Pacific Autism Family Network and Pathways Clubhouse—both of whom continue to champion support for neurodiverse individuals and those living with mental health challenges. Their work inspires us, and we are grateful to collaborate in a community where organizations support one another and help break down stigmas.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the Richmond Chamber of Commerce for recognizing the impact of community-focused organizations. Their ongoing support of non-profits and service providers helps make Richmond a more connected and compassionate city.
Accepting this award on behalf of DDA is a moment of pride, but also a reminder of why we do what we do. Every day, our staff, volunteers, and partners work toward creating a world where everyone—regardless of ability—has the chance to thrive.
“This award belongs to our entire community,” says Mark Zuberbuhler, CEO of DDA. “Our staff and families give their hearts to this work, and Richmond has always welcomed us with open arms. We’re grateful to the Chamber, to our fellow finalists, and to every individual who believes in inclusive opportunities. This recognition motivates us to keep pushing for a more equitable future for all.”
We celebrate this achievement with humility, gratitude, and renewed commitment to the people and families we serve. Thank you, Richmond, for believing in the work we do—and for helping build a community where everyone belongs.
