We have a great opportunity for someone with a Communications background to help promote the many dynamic programs and services we provide throughout the Vancouver-Richmond area. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications and Public Relations Manager is responsible for the Association’s public presence including all publications and websites. The Communications and Public Relations Manager also supports all media events and acts as the first contact for the media. Responsibilities include coordinating all promotional campaigns carried out by the Association, showcasing programs and services and awareness of the vision, mission and values of DDA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing and developing all publications, including annual reports, newsletters. brochures and flyers.
  • Creation of in-house design content including infographics, videos, and other visual assets.
  • Creation of written content.
  • Seeking out media opportunities through highlighting of DDA initiatives.
  • Developing and managing all online activities including website maintenance and social media content.
  • Developing and implementing a strategy to increase membership.
  • Organizing events within the Association and for the public to promote inclusion and disability awareness.
  • Maintenance of CRM and mailing list database.
  • Managing one in-house designer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post-secondary degree in one or more of the following areas: communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design.
  • Experience in non-profit sector and/or volunteer organizations.
  • At least 3 years experience in communications and marketing.
  • Experience in managing the development of the website (particularly WordPress)
  • Experience in social media strategies.
  • Proven ability to work with all levels of management.
COMPETENCIES
  • Ability to work effectively with all staff, outside agencies and contractors.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent project management skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to shoot short videos and work with film makers.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing best practices including social media, digital ads, SEO, and basic website management.
  • Demonstrated competence in desktop publishing, document layout and basic graphic design and publishing layout and video editing.
  • Proficiency and experience working with media.
