On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Developmental Disabilities Association (DDA), it is with both gratitude and admiration that we write to acknowledge the work and dedication of its Executive Director Alanna Hendren, a role she has held since 1997.
Alanna has informed the Board she plans to retire, effective January 24th, 2025. Until then, she will take some much-needed vacation time and will not be available, except to offer the Board support with its succession plan.
Alanna’s commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities has left an indelible mark on the organization, as well as on the families, and communities we serve.
Under her direction, DDA has not only grown in scope and impact but has also strengthened its reputation as a compassionate, forward-thinking, and inclusive organization. From advocating for policy changes to creating innovative programs, she has consistently led with integrity, heart, and an unwavering dedication to our mission.
The Board wishes Alanna all the best in her retirement and hopes she finds as much joy and fulfillment in this new journey as she has given to so many throughout her career.
The Board has appointed DDA’s Director of Finance, Shazia Jafri as Interim Executive Director until a successor can be found.
